As I was doing research for a blog topic, I found a long article discussing thirteen common actions that many consider eco-friendly but that could actually cause more harm than good. The purpose of a filter is to remove unwanted particles from liquid or air. However, as the filter does its job, the collected particles start clogging the filter, so more pressure is required to push the liquid or air through the filter. Pushing the liquid or air through the clogged filter requires more energy, so changing or cleaning filters regularly saves energy and can also prolong the life of the appliance.
